Vicki Rivard – Acupuncturist

She followed this feeling to a school she felt a deep connection to (The Institute of Traditional Medicine in Toronto) and immersed herself  for four years in a world of constant learning, growing, changing, and healing. She received an education of the highest standards – an education that combined western knowledge with eastern wisdom – and studied with many world-renowned practitioners (such as Paul Pitchford, Jake Fratkin, and Lillian Bridges.)

Vicki is a fierce believer in the restorative powers of nature, in the body’s innate ability to heal, and in the ancient wisdom of traditional medicines that have been carried forth into the present day. In addition to studying Chinese Medicine, she has also completed three certificate courses in Yoga and Ayurveda, and will soon graduate from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition’s two-year program.

Vicki is an outspoken advocate for the wellness of people, animals, and the planet itself. In 2013, she launched Swim Wild Canada, a grassroots movement that fights for the rights of both captive and wild whales, dolphins and porpoises. That same year, she became the first recipient of the Karen Haffey Memorial Award for Leadership in Changing the World.

She has a special interest in women’s health, mental-emotional conditions, sleep difficulties, and digestive troubles. She has interned with Kaleb Montgomery at The Toronto Institute for Reproductive Medicine (Repromed) and is passionate about helping women get pregnant, stay pregnant, and give birth to healthy, happy babies.

When not studying or working, Vicki can be found reading three books at a time, enjoying her family and friends, snuggling her fur-babes, getting lost in the great outdoors, and putting her heart on the page (some of her writing can be found on the popular site wwwelephantjournal.com).
