Viaan completed her Bachelor of Social Work with a minor in Sociology and is currently wrapping up her Masters of Social Work at Ryerson University. She is passionate about providing care and support, developing collaborative relationships with clients, and creating safe, non-judgmental, and inclusive spaces.

Viaan values empathy, compassion, and understanding and is committed to practicing from an anti-oppressive framework. She uses a diverse approach depending on the client’s needs by drawing upon Narrative, Cross-Cultural, Strengths-Based, Trauma-Informed, Mindfulness, and Arts-Inspired practices. She engages in a person-centered approach in which they are the captain of the ship — “I go where you go”. Viaan values the stories of clients and believes that every individual is the expert of their own life in which they deserve support as they navigate through challenges and embark on a journey of healing, growth, and self-love.

Along with her own lived experiences, having worked with children, youth, and older adults, she recognizes how a person’s experiences are unique, as are their needs and goals. Primary areas of focus include:

• Grief
• Isolation/ Loneliness
• Depression
• Stress
• Anxiety
• Low Self-Esteem

In her personal time, Viaan enjoys journaling, dancing, listening to music, rewatching her favourite TV shows while snacking, and spending time with family and friends. As an intersectional feminist and social justice advocate, she hopes to make meaningful contributions in the community that would lead to transformative change.
