I’m Sarah, and I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) here at Yellow Gazebo.
I work with individuals (online or in person) who struggle with challenges such as anxiety, depression, loneliness, anger, and ADHD. I support people navigating difficulties in their relationships, families, social lives, and workplaces. My approach is rooted in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy. I can help you manage difficult emotions, build stress management skills, and break free from unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving that may be holding you back from what you truly want.
My down-to-earth, approachable style makes me a good fit for those who find it hard to open up and be vulnerable. I create a safe, comfortable space for anyone looking for an empathetic, non-judgmental ear. I focus on understanding and supporting you without labeling or blaming, so that you feel empowered, uplifted, and more able to handle life’s stresses. I bring authenticity to my work and have a more casual, personal style than you might find elsewhere. I’ll relate to you on a human level with warmth and compassion.
I believe we all have undiscovered sources of strength and resilience. In therapy, we can uncover parts of yourself that may have been unknown to you and explore new ways of navigating life’s challenges with more authenticity and clarity.

What is Counselling?
Are you feeling down or unmotivated? Do you feel overwhelmed by your feelings or emotions? Are you feeling stressed, worried or anxious? Do you feel hopeless or unfulfilled? Perhaps you find yourself lacking direction in life and are unsure of what to do or how to feel “normal” again. Perhaps you are feeling angry, confused and/or unhappy.
People come to therapy because they are facing life challenges and are looking to find solutions. Therapy can bring a new perspective to the difficulties you are experiencing and can provide you with the direction and confidence to achieve your goals.
Psychotherapy and social work are proven to increase happiness, improve motivation and help you to better understand yourself and the world around you. Therapy can also help to:
Provide you with new perspective into your thoughts, feelings and actions
Improve your self-worth, confidence and self-esteem
Teach you effective coping strategies and new ways of thinking
Speed up your healing
Assist you in identifying your strengths, values and beliefs
Improve your relationships with others
Practice new skills and strategies for dealing with life challenges
Regain a sense of hope and direction
Create change and construct new possibilities
Counselling is a term that encompasses many different therapeutic frameworks and modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Talk Therapy, Family Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy. Counselling can be performed by a number of professionals including Registered Social Workers, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, and Psychotherapists. Social work and psychotherapy services are covered under most group benefit plans.
In working together, your counsellor will draw on their clinical knowledge and training and will work with you from a collaborative framework with the assumption that you are the expert in your life and will strive to understand your experience from your perspective. Counselling helps to empower you to achieve your goals and teach you new skills and strategies that are proven to help you cope more effectively with life’s challenges. In engaging in Psychotherapy or counselling, you may find that you begin to recognize your strengths, values and potential and start to develop a new perspective on your current situation.
