How Can a Chiropractor Help?
Care from a chiropractor focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mechanical disorders of your musculoskeletal system, especially with regards to your spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints.
A chiropractor uses non-invasive, safe manual techniques that are specific to your individual needs. Thus you will be asked to help complete a full medical history to aid in your diagnosis and development of a comprehensive treatment plan. What is a chiropractic treatment like?
In addition to your manual treatment in the clinic, you may also be recommended other non-invasive modalities, as well as certain exercises and lifestyle modifications. For example, some chiropractors use laser therapy, which uses red and infrared light to help reduce pain, accelerate healing, and reduce inflammation. You may also be asked to complete an exercise regimen (outside of your treatment at the clinic) that will help to stretch and/or strengthen the correct muscles to help resolve your main complaint. And the lifestyle modifications you could potentially be asked to complete might be something as basic as losing weight or drinking more fluids.
You might be considering seeing a chiropractor because it was recommended to you, or you may have heard that chiropractic has a wide range of health benefits. Some people seek help because of injury, while others simply have postural issues causing them discomfort.
Some frequently seen reasons to seek a chiropractor include:
- back pain
- neck pain
- headaches
- whiplash
- joint pain
- carpal tunnel syndrome
- work and sports injuries
- arthritis
- limited range of motion in the back, shoulder, neck or limbs
- general health and well-being
